TROUBLESHOOTING – New WalkOVR

The LED does not blink while OVR Node is charging.  #

First of all, we recommend you make sure your computer’s USB port is working with other devices (cell phone, flash memory).

If the charge of your device has been empty for a while, we recommend that you wait for half an hour when you plug it in for the first time.

If this problem still persists afterward, you can turn on the device and check the LED to see if the OVR Node is charging at this time, or you can connect to the device with the OVR Portal and check the charging status in the Status Window.

Finally, if your problem persists, try to reset OVR Node.

If you still have this problem, please contact us at support@walkovr.com.

What can I do if I cannot connect to my device? #

First of all, make sure the Bluetooth on your computer is turned on.

Then, when the device is turned on, check the LED color to see if it’s ready for connection. When the LED blinks orange slowly, it means your device is ready for connection.

Then, if your device is on, check the LED color to see if it needs charging. When your OVRNode starts flashing in red, it means your charge is below 30%.

Then you need to check the Bluetooth dongle you are using. The Bluetooth dongle you are using must be at least the BT4.2 version. Up to 5 devices can be connected to the BT4.0 Bluetooth dongle. In this case, we recommend that you check whether 5 devices are connected to your computer via Bluetooth.

Apart from that, another reason why you may have problems with the connection may be the antivirus program you are using. In particular, you can remove or disable antivirus programs that use excessive processors such as “Mcafee Total Protection” and try the connection again.

What can I do when I cannot calibrate my device? #

If you get an error during the calibration process, please follow the instructions below.

For now, you can calibrate in WalkOVR One / Twins / Trio / Mocap mode. For more information please see the “What does calibration mean and how can I calibrate my device?” article.

Usage options:

1  chest WalkOVR One
2 legs WalkOVR Twins
2 legs, 1 chest WalkOVR Trio
2 legs, 2 ankles, 1 chest WalkOVR Mocap

If you have placed OVR Nodes other than the above configurations, you will get an “undefined configuration” error after the calibration process. That’s why you need to make sure you place OVR Nodes properly.

If you do not have any problems during the calibration process, but there is a slippage in your movements, we recommend that you adjust the Strafing & Backward Deadzone parameters on the OVR Portal -> Motion Profile page in the most appropriate way for you.

What can I do if the firmware upgrade fails? #

First, make sure that your internet connection is correct and your device has sufficient charge.

If your computer does not have a wireless card, that is, if you are using ethernet for internet connection, you need to select manual connection during firmware upgrade.

Then, you can upgrade the firmware either by turning on the hotspot on the phone or using the wireless connection in your area. After selecting the manual connection, you need to enter the name of the wireless or hotspot and your password, respectively, in the field in the window that will appear.

If there is no wireless network in your area, after turning on the hotspot from the phone, you should select the manual connection in the firmware upgrade window. Then you must enter the hotspot information on your phone in this field.

If you are doing MAC filtering on your modem or router, or if the brand of your modem is KNEETIC, we recommend you upgrade the firmware by turning on the hotspot from your mobile phone due to possible problems.

What can I do if I don’t see the SteamVR menu?

If you encounter such an error, we want you to make sure that you have the current version of Steam VR installed on your computer. If the problem is still continuing, we recommend that you open Steam VR first and then the OVR Portal. If you still have this problem, please contact us at support@walkovr.com.

I use Oculus Quest/Quest2 with an air link and my SteamVR screen is lagging. #

First of all, you need to have a 5 GHz internet infrastructure. You should also set the bitrate to be constant, not dynamic, from the settings menu in Oculus. We set it to 160 Mbit in our tests and we saw that there was no lag, so we recommend you start with 160 Mbit.

I have a Bluetooth dongle and OVR Node doesn’t connect #

In some cases, the Bluetooth dongle may be locked. So can you try connecting with a different Bluetooth device to the computer first. If you think that your Bluetooth dongle is locked or the LED on the dongle does not light, you can try to connect to your computer with a different Bluetooth device after unplugging it from the USB and then plugging it back in.

The next step, if you are using a laptop and using a Bluetooth dongle for better performance, you need to disable the built-in Bluetooth card from device manager.

The next step is to find out which version the Bluetooth dongle supports. If you are using a Bluetooth dongle in the BT4.2 version, you can connect up to 5 Bluetooth devices to your computer. If you are using a BT5.0 or higher version, the connection should be provided without any problems.

If you still have this problem, please contact us at support@walkovr.com.

OVR Node button stuck, not clickable. #

If you encounter such a situation, you need to open the box of the OVR Node. You can use the tip of a flat screwdriver for this. You can unbox the OVR Node by widening the gap between the flat end of the screwdriver and the bottom and top cover of the OVR Node’s box. Then you need to cut/break off the notch on the side of the button on the top cover. After doing this, you can reattach the top and bottom covers of the OVR Node and continue to use the OVR Node.

If you still have this problem, please contact us at support@walkovr.com.

I can’t pair WalkOVR New? #

After turning on the OVR Node, you can connect directly through the OVR Portal. In contrary to the WalkOVR Classic version, you don’t need to pair your WalkOVR through Windows Bluetooth settings.
